In case you didn’t know, my book called The Sugary-Sherburts and The Stone Witch just got a 5* review on Amazon, I am so excited that I wanted to share it with everyone.
“I loved this book; it is just like a modern day fairytale. I read this book at a children’s group and found that the children and the parents absolutely loved it. It is lovely to come across such a good story that makes you grin from ear to ear and makes you want to shout things to the characters to tell them what you think. It is incredible to think that this has been written by a ten year old. Her writing style is as good as many adults who write for children. The illustrations in this book are simple and yet made me smile every time. A word of warning though – do make sure you have all you need to make baked beans on toast, you may well end up craving it after reading this book.”
The blurb from the book, is below.
A cruel witch and a desperate discovery. Kit and Kat, Sugary-Sherburt, find themselves on the run from a dastardly witch who is trying to destroy their town called Thornton. Kit and Kat must join forces to defeat the wicked witch and get home in time for dinner. The journey takes them to a secret snow castle. They are in terrible danger; will they manage to save the town, their friend and families in time? The Sugary Sherburts and The Stone Witch is part two of the Sugary-Sherburts series by Heather Ellis.
I thought I would post a small quote from my book called ‘The Sugary Sherburts’ by me (Heather Ellis)
In this part of my book, there is a disaster brewing for one of the main characters called Herbert, at the place where he works.
“Sure enough, inside the factory, the boiler had become so hot that it had begun to screech, groan and rattle. Mr Werly was the very last man to leave the factory, he was doing his final checks and noticed that the boiler had not been switched off. The big button on the wall had a sign which read ‘To turn off boiler, press this red button’, when Mr Werly had pressed it, it had stuck and he was in a state of panic. He skidded through the snow and ice, ran into the yard and screamed “lend a hand turning off the boiler!” His voice echoed through the fields; however his cries for help were unheard as everyone had retired for the day and gone home! There wasn’t a soul around for miles. The ground under Mr Werly rumbled and he turned around. The lanterns at the front of the factory began to swing and windows began to clatter. His mouth was wide open catching flies; he slowly put his hand over his mouth. There was a wailing, metallic screeching noise and he flinched. There was no way that Mr Werly was going to stay and see what happened next, so he ran as fast as he could down the hill shouting “AARRRRGGH” with his arms waving frantically.”
I would love to hear what you think – are you interested in reading more?

This week is 6 months since my first blog post! It doesn’t sound like a long time but I am getting addicted to my blog, along with my new web-site which was launched this week (http://www.heatherellisbooks.co.uk). They are my two little corners of the internet world.
In just 6 months, it has captured the many books I have read, my new love of making video’s on Animoto, films I have watched, new music I have been listening to, creation of my twitter account, my second children’s book being published on Amazon.
I’ve gone from my first test post with absolutely no followers, and no clue how to use WordPress, to rough average 5-10 visitors a day. It doesn’t sound like a lot but I love people leaving ‘likes’ and commenting – it is awesome. Feel free :-))
A big 6 month thank you to all of you for your wicked support! I have some lovely readers on WordPress! To celebrate, I am putting my first book ‘The Sugary Sherburts’ on free download on Saturday 12th of October on Amazon.com
=)) More about that later.
I woke up this morning and I had a lovely message from someone on Twitter, who had read my kids book ‘The Sugary Sherburts’ and offered me their support and compliments.
As a new indie author I have found that it’s difficult to get people to read my books and even more difficult to get people to review them. Feedback is always welcome (I could do an entire blog post about it!) …
It really made me smile to get that message and I was so happy about getting feedback.
They then kindly posted a really thoughtful tweet which asked their followers to check out my twitter @heatherellisbks and download my book.
I think their tweet was retweeted about 7 times on twitter by other people. I know that 7 retweets doesn’t sound like a lot, but I briefly looked at their followers they were retweeting to – it was probably close to 70k people. At 10 years old I don’t think that I have even seen 70k people in my life; it is a lot of people!
It just makes me think about how powerful Twitter is, they you can reach so many people that quickly!
My first book called “The Sugary Sherburts” is due on a free promotion on Kindle, on Amazon, on September 14, 2013 (thats this Saturday everyone!)
If you want to download it – once you have finished reading, please go onto Amazon and leave a review. Those who do leave reviews will be entered into a prize draw to win a free paperback copy of “The Sugary Sherburts”.
If you would like to know more about the book, see the blurb about it below:
“Herbert Sugary-Sherburt has just finished his magnificent chocolate rock masterpiece. When he gets home from work, there is a big disaster at the chocolate factory. How did it start raining hundreds and thousands in Thornton? And how on earth did the Sugary-Sherburts get involved? 6 year old Kit and 7 year old Kat are on the case. Will they be able to save the families and their homes in time? The Sugary Sherburts is an entertaining 25 page short story for kids, with some funky pictures. The book is suitable from the age of 10 years upwards!”
